Pillow Passion

So, I have a bit of a pillow problem.
I simply can't stop purchasing them.
And now that I have an apartment in the back of my mind that I know I will have to decorate for Cam and I I have a whole new reason to enable my tendencies.
I try to think of myself as a pillow curator.
My most recent pillow acquisition is my octopus pillow from Paper Source.
I've been hankering for a little something octopus-inspired with a bit of beading and my favorite navy & red combo.
Sold.

World's Best

I wandered around Target clutching this little plastic carnival tent container indecisively.
 It was the last one.
I put it back twice, and even considered hiding it behind some stuff,
and coming back for it later when I had extra cash.
When I run errands, I keep a firm grip on my shopping list, and always recite the same thing to myself before walking in:
"If it wasn't a need when I walked in,
it won't be a need when I walk out."
Meaning: don't buy random crap just because it is on sale.
However, extreme mark-downs and/or items discovered on my long-term shopping list can be decided on a case-by-case basis.
And then the check-out lady scanned it.
It was twenty-three cents.
Less than a quarter.
I needed an adorable snack container, because, let's face it:
I don't purchase, carry, or wear anything that I am not crazy about and no way was I spending five bucks on a pack of the Glad brand to hold my sugar packets.
This container now graces my tea tray and makes me smile while also encapsulating my sweeteners--which is its cute little job.

Headbandit

 I got the headbands for a steal--less than $2 a piece.
I'm a headbandit.

Bunny Key Fob

My new key fob from Brooklyn Love Designs came in the mail the other day.
It is sturdy and adorable, and I love being able to have my keys on my wrist.

Wooly Buns

Here's a sampling of some of the supplies I just purchased for my next 3D project with fox and bunny.
What can it be??

New Art Buttons

I've made so many Zazzle purchases lately that I was given 5 free zazzle bucks, so I decided to splurge and get myself buttons with some of my favorite artwork on them:
One Arthur Rackham print about Little Red Riding Hood and two different japanese prints.

Italian Wardobe

Mom and I went on an epic shopping spree last night at Kohl's.
If you don't know already, my mother and I are the Predators of bargain hunting.
We hit Kohl's when everything was 50% off and then knocked another 20% off at the end.
Such savings.
We went in for walking shoes...we left with my Italy wardrobe.
Here are some of my favorites.

Pretty Pill Box

A few months ago I found out that I had a B-12 deficiency, which was what was contributing to all of my unexplained bouts of weariness.
Since I've started taking B-12, I've drastically improved--I don't have to keep planning naps during my day!
However, I have difficulty remembering to take my pills, and my pill bottle is so big and bulky that I never carry it in my purse.
So I purchased a cute little pill box to solve that problem!

A Present To Myself

Since March 1, I have been waiting on tenterhooks for an answer back regarding my application for an internship at The High Museum of Art Atlanta.
I tried not to obsess over it, and there was definitely a lot of prayer involved!
However, I told myself that if I got the position, I would award myself with a new lunchbox for work, since I've had the same one since my freshman year of high school, and it's pretty beat up.
Well, yesterday I was called out of the blue for a phone interview, and this morning I received an email saying that I got the job!
I am officially the Modern and Contemporary Art Curatorial Intern for the summer!
So, in celebration, I purchased this adorable linen lunch box from SoYoung.
I was impressed by the company's clean, unique and modern style.
Plus, I'm a sucker for linen, birds and brown!
The great thing is that the linen has a protective coating that allows it to wipe clean.
I'm all set to bring my lunch to work now.

West Egg Octopus

Cam and I grabbed a late lunch at West Egg, where anyone can enjoy "southern comfort in a modern, energetic, environment."
Revered by many as the best breakfast in Atlanta, West Egg has yet to disappoint me, and I highly recommend checking it out.
Not only do I love the food, but the aesthetic is right down my alley as well: High ceilings, a mix of modern and rustic details, and beautiful old-school print menus.
Above is my perfectly wonderful "Occapus" ring that Cam bought me for my birthday.
He originally took me to several antique stores and a shady pawn shop to find a lovely old ring, but after a fruitless search we retreated to my familiar favorite: Paper Source.
Each time I've visited I've loved this Octopus print, and when we were near the register, he found the ring and we new it was meant to be.
It's adorably quirky, just like him, and I love it.
This pumpkin whoopie pie was too delightful to gobble up all at once.
I savored each small bite.

Cupcake Key Covers

Cam and I hit up Urban Outfitters for the first time!
Lots of fun, but pretty pricey.
We looted their lower price and sale items and snagged these deliciously silly Cupcake Key Covers.
Now we have cupcake keys.
Ahh...what would he do without me?
Cam's stylish keychain update.

Tank Addiction

I'm moving back in on Thursday and am trying to knock out some of my packing today.  As is the usual case for me, I'm lollygagging.  I do best under a looming deadline.  Some would think two days was urgent enough, but I've got a full day tomorrow to putter around and pack.  Going through my clothes, I viewed with mingled pride and bewilderment the mass and spectrum of tanks I've accumulated over the past two years.  I only ever grab them for $2 or less, but I've managed to collect quite the rainbow.

Tallulah Point

In between morning and evening sessions, I would drive just down the road to Tallulah Point, a general store with "The Best View of Tallulah Gorge" that I stumbled across my first day.  I returned each day following for the company of the sweet owners, boiled peanut seller David, and Peach NEHI.  I was told "You can taste the fuzz on the peach."
It's true.  New favorite drink.
Mr. David would walk around offering tourists samples of "bawled p-nuts."
It was my first one ever, which is crazy since I'm a Georgia native.
They used an antique fire extinguisher to prop open the door.
Beautiful.
Thirty three cent miniature elephants.
I bought two, so they could be friends.
Hard candy!  Lemon and butterscotch are my favorites.
They collect the glass bottles to make jewelry and wind chimes.
The view was five times more expansive than this, even bigger than the one I got from within the state park.
The Great Wallenda was a 65 year tight rope walker who crossed the quarter mile expanse of the gorge and completed to head stands back in 1970.
They had beautiful old-fashioned tin toys.
Above the store was a bbq/antique shop. Crazy combo.
I brought different friends each day.  We also hit up the local thrift store.  So fun!
Cam and Charlie were planning on going to Tallulah Gorge to rock hop and finally picked this past Saturday.
The gorge is five minutes from my camp so we all got to meet up.
Passes to the bottom of the gorge ran out, but fortunately, I had made friends at Tallulah Point and was able to ask for their advice.
Mr. David drew us out a map for a very sketchy path to Panther Creek.
It involved us making a few turns in our car, and then getting out when we found a white door lying in the woods.
Then we got out and looked for the trail, left the trail when we heard the river, crossed it and then followed more trails.
We hopped rocks, trying to balance on logs spanning the width of the river and other silly challenges we made up.
Cam stumbled across a yellow jacket nest and got stung half a dozen times and had to leap into the river, and brought them to us and I managed to get stung!
I watched us closely for allergic reactions.
After lots of hopping, climbing and rambling we came to the falls.
And then the bottom fell out and we made our way back to the car in the downpour.
We got lost and I fell down a lot because I couldn't wear my glasses without them fogging up.
Sounds crazy, but it was a ton of fun, and best of all was the quarter bottle of Peach NEHI waiting for me in the car.
