A Green Guest

This evening my parents called us away from The Rescuers Down Under to show us the little hummingbird who was trapped and fluttering frantically in our garage.  We opened both doors, but Mom finally had to climb up and save him.  She brought him inside to feed him some sugar water so that he wouldn't go back out exhausted.
I love his green coloring.

Arrival-Talullah Falls

After stopping for directions at both an Autozone and a Kangaroo, I finally made it to the Athens Y-Camp in Tallulah Falls.  It was if God had made the trip a little longer so I could get there in time for that light.  I was the first student there and just wandered around the camp followed by the yellow labs that wander around and wait for belly rubs and sticks to be thrown in the lake.
 It was totally Parent Trap.

Neat n' Woodsy

I searched natural wood organizer on Etsy and came across these natural beauties.
The above was made by Lisa's Paintbrush from reclaimed barn wood.
I especially enjoy this design because it lines and separates the paintbrushes. I'd prefer this system to my stick em and mix em in a mason jar system that I have going on right now.
I liked the variously sized cubby holes and depths and the overall asymmetrical design of this piece made from naturally aged spalted maple.
Garny Designs also makes some pretty sweet barstools.
Reclaimed Pine Wood Caddy
I loved the history this caddy carried with it, constructed from antique floor joints in 19th century Philadelphia.
All of the products at Peg and Awl have a beautifully nostalgic, rustic quality.

Potting my Plant

Confession.  I'm pretty sure I killed my two succulents.  They are succulents.  Do I have the black thumb of death, or what?  Actually, I'm pretty sure it's because I didn't drain the soil, as I kept them in sealed terrariums.  Anyways, I didn't want to screw things up with my new begonias, so I called my dad and went to Home Depot.
There were lots of decorative pots, but I went with you basic clay variety and made sure that it could drain.
Then I made a perfect mess in our driveway and potted my plant.

 Idiot-proof potting soil.
I love working with my hands...making something.  The urge never ceases, I get up in the middle of the night to scribble down ideas.
My workspace is littered with them.
But plants, things that grow, that's all God.
I'm so grateful that he created us in his image, so that we, too can experience the joy of creation.
With every fold, doodle and misadventure in gardening, I'm worshipping Him.

Morning Browse

I've started to ease my way into working the 5AM shipment shift at Old Navy, because I'd like to work it regularly during the school year to have some extra mula (I felt that it needed an "h" but the dictionary disagrees).
Well, I got up at 3AM, did yoga for half an hour, got ready and had a long leisurely breakfast.
If I'm going to get up early, I might as well make it a treat, rather than a scramble.
I clocked out at 9:30 and headed to the Publix Pharmacy to have a prescription filled.  I had to wait, so I wandered around the floral department.
I love flowers.  A lot.  In a very deep, sincere, warm way.
Seeing them always makes me smile and come closer.
My dad has a large garden and will pick them for me or my mom to surprise us, and I always arrange bouquets we receive.
So when I found some begonias in my heated, blushing shades, checked the price ($3.47!) and called Cam to google how difficult it would be for me to kill them, I purchased my Rieger Begonias.  I gave the other sad flowers some photo love.  I couldn't take them all home.
I choose you, Pikachu.
