Athens Y-Camp

What a beautiful change of perspective.  God shaped me so much in this week.  Wednesday afternoon through Saturday afternoon I camped with about one hundred other college students from around Georgia from both Grace churches for discipleship training geared towards college ministry.  I went solo, not knowing a soul, and God through me into the path of wonderful teaching and such authentic believers.  I have pages and pages of notes, and so many new friends, brothers and sisters that I can count on and keep up with for encouragement and prayer.
Where we worshipped.
The camp has been open since 1898, surviving wars and depression.  Each camper has the privilege of adding their name to the collection.  So incredible.  I looked up and around and thought of the countless lives, souls that had passed through this place.

Rebuilding the City

A delicious sabbath treat.
Strawberries, Nutella and the ultimate finishing touch to any fancified meal: confectioner's sugar.
I munched on this as I listened to Rebuilding the City, a sermon about what it means to bring the Kingdom to earth, wherever you are.
It reminded me to minister when in foreign lands.  This doesn't mean that you have to go on a mission trip, but meaning you may be away from home in college, or in a new place for a short time, and that you should invest in that place.
Do not hang up your harps and cease to sing because this place is not your home.  Write new songs.
If you are there for only a year, seek ways to restore homes and repair lives, because the only time you have is the present.

EMPOWER

Sorry the blog has been a little slow this week. I've been painting a mural for Chestatee, working, studying for my Astronomy final and was even able to squeeze in some Ace Gang time yesterday at the lake.
This next week I will be out of town.  Monday through Wednesday, I will be on Georgia Tech Campus with my Alpha Gamms for RTS.  Wednesday through Saturday I will be in Athens at the EMPOWER Retreat.  I am so looking forward to the instruction and fellowship I will be receiving there.  This summer has rekindled my passion for my own college, and I desperately want to see His kingdom come to Brenau.
Here is a blurb for the retreat:
"At Grace Fellowship, we believe God wants to see His Kingdom come to the College Campuses of the U.S. like never before, and He wants to use students to make it happen.  These 4 days and 3 nights will be a time of intense empowerment where you will be poured into, equipped and filled up, so that you can then go and make a difference at your college.  And, this will be a unique opportunity to network and fellowship with students from many different College Campuses and backgrounds.  Together, we can see the culture of our colleges shift towards the Kingdom!"
If you are in the Atlanta area, there is still time for you to sign up.

Wait on the Lord

I just listened to the latest teaching at Grace Midtown:
Wait on the Lord preached by Chris Moerman.
Grace Midtown truly feels like my home church, even though it is in Atlanta, an hour away from me and I'm only able to attend on the scattered weekends that I visit Cam.
But God has done bigger things and spoken to people in stranger ways.

This sermon about waiting on the Lord never being time wasted was a message that I needed to hear.  My blog has been going well, I have real live readers now, it's summer time and I just want to get MOVING with my business.
I want to be out of the house, out of college, finally get married to Cam and make my living making things for people!
But when I look back on the times that I have had to wait, when not moving, not knowing was excruciating...those were the times that he truly shaped me.
When I let go and said,
"Your will, not mine. "
Waiting brought me to Cam.
Waiting brought me to Brenau.
Waiting brought me to incredible friendships.
Waiting brought me to new knowledge.
Waiting brought me to renewed faith and closer to Him.
So I will wait, because His plans and His timing are always better than my own.
