They're Here!!!

After nearly a month of suspense, my business cards finally arrived yesterday!
They were worth the wait.
We had a bit of confusion with the company we ordered from, Pixxlz, but they kindly amended the mistake, paid for our shipping and gave us credit for printing pictures with them in the future.
We were treated kindly, fairly, and personally, which my mom and I so appreciated.
I recommend using the company in the future: they are personal, accommodating, affordable and eco-friendly, which was the reason I selected them in the first place!
Not to mention the final product was flawless!
I couldn't wait to slide them in my beautiful card case made specially by my love.
It was the perfect early Christmas present.

Holly Cupcakes

My talented friend Amy made yummy chocolate cupcakes and topped them off with holly berries!  She made the leaves by mixing two different kinds of green gel icing, and used a simple red coloring for the berries.
It's a really nice effect.

Mini-Midnight Wrapping Tutorial

I met up with Mer for a silly zumba work out and a midnight present wrapping tutorial with Ms. BJ---enhanced by Publix's surprisingly delicious spinach artichoke dip.

The World's Smallest Post Service Kit

Artist Lea Redmond is the creator of The World's Smallest Post Service Kit.  Each kit comes with all the miniature goodies you would need to send tiny packages and letters to your friends and family.

Snow Globe Finale

 I finished my snow globe!
Inside I used a small skater figurine, wine cork, old christmas lightbulbs, red buttons, clear and silver glitter.
I also finished it off with my favorite stripy fisherman's yarn.

Rough Diamond

I've never much liked the look of diamonds...but these rough cut beauties are really special.

Santa on a Harley and Dogs in Sweaters

I got an unexpected project this evening: Mom needed Christmas cards, and although my laziness prevented me from doing an extended search of our basement for them (five minutes tops), it did not prevent me from enthusiastically offering to whip up two handmade holiday cards for her instead.
This one is for a teacher who loves dogs.
It's my favorite.
Look at his little sweater!

The Brave Little Toaster

Cam pointed out this brave little toaster stenciled street art on the sidewalk this weekend.
It's funny how things crop up after you've talked about them.
We had just had a discussion about how The Brave Little Toaster was one of our favorites, but also a very scary movie.
Do you remember The Brave Little Toaster?
Scary scenes I can remember off of the top of my head:
*something about a scary fireman clown and a shower
*the air conditioner going crazy
*curby (Kirby?) swallowing his cord at the waterfall
*getting lost in the rain storm and (maybe lampy?) short circuiting
*when they got stuck in the muck
*when they ended up in that scary pawn shop in the wilderness
*when they went into Master's house, and the modern electronics were mean and scary
*The junkyard!
That is a long list.  The Brave Little Toaster definitely ranks high on my list of surprisingly disturbing children's movies, a few spots behind E.T.
However, I liked The Brave Little Toaster, I did NOT like E.T.

Snow Globe Fun

For my little's birthday, I had her over for a day of crafting.
She made a dozen or so bobby pins and I worked on my slow globe.
It's a little bitty one made from a spice jar.
It's not finished yet, I used superglue, which I would not recommend unless you really wanted to make sure your figurines were stuck forever--because forever takes a while to dry.
If you try it yourself, just use a glue gun.
Baby oil instead of water is a nice idea as well because it makes your doo-dads and glitter float more slowly and gracefully, but I'm being a cheap-o and adding water tomorrow.

Garland in the Shop

I finally photographed and added my garland to the shop.
Check it out!

First Etsy Sale: Penguins

First, I'd like to apologize for my conspicuous (I wish) absence from the blogosphere.
My mac power cord broke, I was preparing for finals, life was a madhouse.
But my lovely friend Christine lent me her cord and I have an absolute panoply of posts to share with all of you.
Yesterday I mailed out my first ever etsy order!
It was a special order: she requested the color orange and penguins for her niece.
I hope little Bella loves her notebooks.
Since it was my first order, in the Christmas spirit I threw in an extra octopus notebook.

Bubbles and Glass

I love these bubble-like glass orb necklaces.
They are so unusual and lovely--like a piece of fantasy injected into your every day.
