Fifth Anniversary Surprise

"Romantic" has never really been in mine and Cam's collective vocabulary.
So when he used the word to describe the surprise he had in store for me Saturday night, I was incredibly excited and intrigued.
I was told to dress up and keep out of Theta Xi's kitchen while he cooked.
All the guys teased me because they knew what Cam was cooking up for the evening and I didn't.
But I'm no secret sniffer.
I just grinned and giggled and tapped my toes expectantly as I tried to concentrate on the tv or my book.
Finally, he met me at the door with a tray covered in mysteriously tin-foiled food and told me to hop in the car.
We drove for a much shorter distance than I'd imagined, parking on the opposite side of GA Tech's campus.
It was twilight, the perfect time of day, no longer hot, but not yet chilly.
I was led, eyes closed, up, up, up many stairs.
We finally stopped and Cam had me wait while he made rustling noises.
I clenched my fists and thanked God for whatever was about to happen and for the many things that had already happened these past five years.
The rustlings stopped.
Then he took my hand and told me to open my eyes.

West Egg Connection

Cam and I had a pretty booked weekend, especially since we were doing Salsa Dancing Boot Camp Saturday and Sunday.  He sacrificed a lot of study time before his finals to make this weekend special, so I made sure to plan a play date with another Alpha Gamm Saturday morning so he could go over his notes.
Anna E. is a very talented photographer, Brenau and Alpha Gamm alumn and all around fantastic person. You can check out her work at Pretty as a Peacock, her personal blog Maintaining Sanity and her food blog Noms.
She is so very cool.
We met at West Egg Cafe (a Great Gatsby reference) which has famously delicious food and atmosphere.  The two of us thought it the most natural thing in the world to photograph our meals before we ate them.
It was an excellent start to my day filled with the most nourishing food of all: good conversation.
I left feeling empowered, encouraged and excited.
I got their Belgian Waffle with some amazing, sweet spice butter.
Anna E. always orders banana pudding to go.  Look how cute it is!

Deep Dish

My first night at GA Tech, Cam cooked us deep dish pizza in Theta Xi's kitchen.
Delish. We worked our way through it while watching The Green Mile.
Blackberry Izze.
He coated the crust in olive oil and parmesan.

All Out Of

Grabbed this pad for my mom's birthday earlier this month along with the Pocket Posh notebooks.  Such a great gift for a mom, this pad has a magnet on the back so you can keep it on the fridge and mark off depleted items as you go through the week.
The company makes all sorts of snarky notepads and stickies.

Paper-Source Atlanta

I'm back in Atlanta with Cam as it is our Anniversary weekend, we'll be celebrating five years this Monday. We kicked things off with my first ever visit to Paper-Source.  We were in there just shy of two hours and had a ball.  I knew I wanted something, but I'm a very slow shopper and finally found the perfect thing, and several oddities and pretties in between.
One of the shopkeepers, a girl a few years older than me named Joey, had graduated from Brenau!  We had a nice little chat about school and how much we loved paper.  Ahh...kindred spirits can be found everywhere.
Cam was a little drained after all the fun we had in Paper-Source (I was pretty exhausted, too) and I treated us to some Karibou Coffee, a first for both of us.  DELISH.  Cam got a large White Snickerdoodle Cooler topped with bits of snickers and I sipped on a small Milk Mint Chocolate Cooler topped with Andes mints.
So many of my favorite things: Sock monkeys, paper and costumed animals!
A picture of a tree inside said "All my friends are end tables."
Another illustration of a baker said "All my friends are bread."
Cam really liked Today is Super.
I loved this Japanese print calendar Cam found for me.
It's definitely a runner up for my Christmas present.
Wanted to bring this back and have it framed for Theta Xi.
(Their mascot is the unicorn.)
Cam: "What is this?"
"Oh my gosh, it's a pencil sharpener!!!!"
Lamb Chop!
Classy.
My purchase!
I cleaned them out of their Bunny Calling Cards.  I haven't saved up the money to make my own business cards yet, and still haven't decided on a design.  But I continue to have people ask for my info, and I continue to meet awesome artists and interesting people whom I'd like to keep in contact with.  Problem solved.
Snickerdoodle.
Mint!
This is one of my favorite buildings; I wish I could go closer without being creepy.
 Unfortunately, it's a funeral home.
